As an ancient structure,masonry structure is widely used all around the world.It accounts for a significant proportion in our existing industrial and civil buildings owing to its unique strengths, and a large number of buildings will be dominated by masonry structure in the future for a long period of time.Due to the features of the selection of convenient,simple construction,short construction period,low cost, The brick masonry structure is widely used in the buildings of our country. The capability of seismic resistance is poor and it is subjected to severe damage in passed earthquake. Especially the serious damage of the masonry buildings in "Wenchuan Earthqake"even arouse great attention to scholars both at home and abroad.So,in this thesis, seismic analyses of masonry buildings are studied on the basis of the achievements gained by former scholars,the main contents are as follows:1.The first,analyse the earthquake damage of masonry structures in wenchuan earthquake and the status of masonry structure;2.The modelling of the masonry building is based on the use of the equivalent frame method. The bullding is making static pushover analyses through using the finite element analytical software SAP2000.Then we have got the base shear force and top displacement curves in the different lateral force and gain the appearance sequence of the plastic hinges;3. Based on holing on the wall will degrade the seismic capacity of structures, First, maintain the same width of window and change the height,carrying out a series of pushover analysis to masonry building, Then compare the capacity curve and the distribution of plastic hinges of each model;The second, maintain the same height of window and change the width,carrying out a series of pushover analysis to masonry building, Then compare the capacity curve and the distribution of plastic hinges of each model; Finally, Add gird beam and constructional column to the model of the same width of window and change the height, carrying out a series of pushover analysis to masonry building,then compare the model which without gird beam and constructional column;.4.Carry out using the same seismic record but a different scale factor for PGA under a series of non-linear time-history analyses of masonry structures,then receive the maximum base shear and the maximum top displacement, Which plotted the maximum base shear and the maximum top displacement curve.In this paper, earthquake ground motions in the software SAP2000 is used in the analyses.
