Ice is the cooling water droplets collision with insulator and freezing on it that process is hydrodynamic and thermodynamic. In this paper, a fully insulated artificial climate chamber was used to simulate wind, the environment temperature, rainfall, leakage current and others variable that can influence the process of insulator cladding ice. According to the basic principle of thermodynamics, established a suitable numerical simulation model and method, calculation and analysis the condition of insulator cladding ice characteristics, this has important academic value and engineering application value.A new design proposal of fully insulated artificial climate chamber that a platform for artificial cladding ice test was put forward.For insulator cladding ice testing equipment and specific test methods were introduced. Demonstrate the superiority of the test device, test methods and main parameter measurement method.According to the basic principle of heat transfer: the process was analyzed that the cooling rain-drops freezing on insulator and heat transfer process, established a thermodynamic equation, analysis of freezing time with environmental temperature, wind, the diameter of rain, discusses the relationship of the collision time and freezing time, theoretically, distinguished the relationship dry ice of cover and wet cladding ice;Analyzes insulator cladding ice thermal equilibrium equation and heat transfer process, establish a thermodynamics equation that be used to calculates the strength of cladding and frozen coefficient, discussing wind speed, environment temperature, water content and leakage current that can influence the strength of cladding and frozen coefficient in the process of dry-ice and wet-iceIn artificial climate chamber, with control of various natural environment parameters to realize cladding ice, from the experiment perspective to analysis the influence that liquid water content or rainfall, ambient temperature how they can influence the quality of ice on the insulator surface and the dense of ice. And then the test results and simulation results were compared, checking the influence that the liquid water content or rainfall, ambient temperature how they can influence the quality of ice on the insulator surface and the dense of ice.
