At present, China's railway electrification rate has reached at 45%, the electric railway role a important in economic benefit and social progress. China's railway will reach 120,000 kilometers, electric railway will reach above 60% by 2020. Electrified railway has become the important symbol judge the economic strength in a country.In recent years, With the rapid development of electrified railway. the power increases with the electric locomotive development. Electric locomotive produce large amounts of harmonic and negative sequence current, this current may inject traction power supply system, Cause power quality problems. This issue has attracted worldwide attention, and many countrys have taken various measures to improve power quality of electric railway.This paper first analyzes the main circuit and operating characteristic of the SS9 electric locomotive, and build a SS9 electric locomotive simulation model. Analyses the SS9 electric locomotive produce harmonic current content and aberrtion rate when the locomotive characteristic in different operating conditions.Introduces the importance of the evaluation of power quality test, take power quality evaluation on Shanhaiguan traction substation. Analyses the power quality problem of the traction substation.Built Shanhaiguan traction substation and SS9 electric locomotive simulation model, and single-phase TCR type SVC device simulation model. Based on the simulation results, deduction that the TCR type SVC device can improve the quality of power of the traction substation, and SVC device can restrain Reactive reverse sent to power system effectively. So using the TCR type SVC device is feasible.Finally, calculated the parameter of the TCR type SVC device which will be used in Shanhaiguan traction substation. After use SVC device the power quality indexes in Shanhaiguan traction substation meet the GB standard. Shanhaiguan traction substation. In addition, Single-phase TCR tyoe SVC device can dynamic compensation effect, power factor in Shanhaiguan traction substation will be very high. Main power quality indexes of Shanhaiguan traction substation meet GB standard.The mainly research content of this paper includes simulation of electrified railway traction substation, electric locomotive and power quality improvement device. Include of power quality test and evaluation of electrified railway traction substation. Finally, using reasonable control device for power quality improvement and verify the effect of it. The research process of power quality problems of electrified railway is rational and scientific, this paper has theoretical value and engineering application value to solve the power problem of electrified railway.
