Propshaft is the important part for a vehicle, sealing capability of universal joint plays a great role on defining propshaft durability. This paper studys on the universal joint sealing capability.1. Based on ansys non-linearity technology,2-D solid element and contact pair was utilized to establish the two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element model of oil seal. Simulate the double lip oil seal assembly process and the change of inner and outer pressure. Analyze the lip distortion and maximum contact pressure.2. Conduct muddy spray and oil leakage rig test for double lip seal.Analyze the testing process and teardown the sample after testing. Validate the sample sealing capability and Ansys simulation right.3. Through compare simulation with testing result, optimize the structure to increase sealing capability by add one more lip extend to oil side. Finish treble lip seal design. Conduct simulation and validation rig test.Sealing capability was increased by optimize the structure, The result also show that the research method is rationality and right. It can be used in the digital simulation of the design and choice of oil seal, and make a great progress of the changing between the experience design and digital simulation. Analysis result and the method has been used also settles a foundation for further optimum design.
