Although wind generation has great benefits to energy saving and environment, it is significant for the planning and operation of power system that the amount of conventional capacity replaced by wind power, namely the Capacity Credit of wind power, without the loss of system reliability due to its characteristics of intermittent and variability. The current studies of Capacity Credit of wind power are focused on the conventional power system planning sense so that it is difficult to apply the concept in power system operating conditions because of the usage of statistical rather than real-time database. Therefore, it should be carried on the research of wind power Capacity Credit in the system operating context, and it is meaningful for the operation and dispatch in wind power integrated power system.Firstly, this thesis introduces the concept of wind power Operating Capacity Credit, and points out that the operating conditions of power system should be considered when calculating the wind power Operating Capacity Credit. By comparing two different methods for probabilistic production simulation, the factors influencing the wind power Capacity Credit in system planning and operating sense are discussed respectively and the method based on chronological load curve is chosen out to analyze wind power Operating Capacity Credit. Then, based on the probabilistic production simulation which keeps the time-dependent behavior of system load, a method to evaluation wind power Operating Capacity Credit is proposed. Together with the stochastic volatility of wind power, the operating conditions such as the scheduling modes and the technical constrains of generating units and so on are considered in the proposed method by involving unit commitment problem. The Operating Capacity Credit of wind power is then evaluated for different values of the reliability of the system as measured by the reliability index and can reflect the impact of the operating conditions. At last, the Operating Capacity Credit of wind power is applied to the dispatch of power system integrated with wind generation and the dispatch model is proposed on the basis of traditional unit commitment problem. In the proposed model, the wind generation is rectified by its Operating Capacity Credit and is subtracted from system load. The scheduling strategy then is achieved for the given level of system reliability. Based on the model above, the value of wind power to power system operation is calculated in the view of saving cost for replacing conventional generation and additional cost for reliability and the result do have significant meaning in scheduling of wind power.
