Along with recent years, full-speed development of economy, the quantity of vehicle increases rapidly. Consequently, the roads congestion phenomenon appears and traffic accident happens frequently. How to solve the traffic problem in city becomes social heated focus. Traffic light is the important chain of command in city traffic, related closely to people's daily life. Along with the improvement of people's living standard, people also put forward higher demand to traffic control. So, to provide a reliable, safe, convenient intelligence traffic light control system has realistic necessity.This paper considers the problems of the design and implementation of MCU-based traffic light controller. The traffic light controller designed in this paper possesses three kinds of control mode:fuzzy control, periodical regular control and manual control, and functions of traffic irregularity check record, emergency handles and user'free parameter settings. The main content of this paper are as follows:1.Introduce the current situation of city traffic control in our country. Ascertain the overall design project of MCU-based traffic controller according to current situation of traffic signal control system. Analyze the periodical regular control mode of real-time traffic signaler, fuzzy control time-distribution mode and manual control mode.2. Select traffic signaler hardware type according to system traffic control project, design signaler's control label, system power, control module, light-control module, countdown display module and vehicle video checking unit etc..3.Completed software system design of traffic controller according to the demand of hardware system and system control. Designed the system's main program and manual control, fuzzy optimal control, control label and show, serial communication, countdown display and malfunction diagnosis and protect module.4.Test the performance of the designed traffic control system, introduce circuit testing of system's hardware unit and software debugging process.
