Through the research on the mode of material combination, this thesis is to explore the potential of material combinations, on which maintaining the status quo, so that designers could correctly grasp and deeply understand the material composition, which will be helpful for the designers to express their best design intention, and to reflect the best utilization of the material.This thesis takes the principles, performance methods, aesthetic significance of materials combination as the research basis, the style of interior space which attributes properties as an entry point, combining with the background and relevant examples, and the scientific and rational analysis, this thesis sums up the mode of material combinations in which style of interior space could represent properties that is the main research directions of this thesis. With analysis, induction and comparison, this thesis sums up the mode of technology style, rustic combination mode, combination mode of neo-classical style, modern style combination mode, the mode of post-modern style, mixed-style combination mode and regional style combination mode, etc.Meanwhile, combining with the aesthetic principles of materials combination, this thesis attempts to discover the potential of material combination in modern space expressing capability, and summarizes that the use of material combination in modern interior design not only stays on the surface of the decoration, moreover the most important of which is to explore as one of the interior design elements, how the material combination reflects the design theme expressed by the combination of materials, reaching a certain spiritual connotation, interior space and even characters of buildings, and the regional and historical themes.
