Large modern railway passenger transport hub has effective convergence of many transportation means such as high-speed railway, conventional rail, urban rail transit, long-distance bus, conventional bus, electric shuttle bus, moving and walking trail and so on, which takes a variety of conversions between internal and external traffic, and has such characteristics as huge building grand, three-dimensional spatial layout and clustering functions. Once being completed, it can not be easily changed. Thus from the point of transport planning and management, this is a problem for the planning department in planning stage of large hub that is how to make the service requirements by emergency evacuation in the last stage of hub operation into account to ensure reliable planning avoiding from major mistakes in transportation.Based on the above, this paper focuses on evacuation-related issues of the hub. Being a basis of model construction and system design, architectural and functional characteristics of the hub system are analyzed. Meanwhile, according to the behavioral and psychological theory, psychological responses and behavior characteristics of personnel individuals and groups are analyzed.On the analysis of evacuation characteristics of sub-hub construction and personnel subsystem, key issues in evacuation process are studied. Considering network model and personnel evacuation characteristics, theoretical model for evacuation time based on six-evacuation-unit is built. Also, evacuation route principles are set, and route selection methods of hierarchical partition are proposed. Then, evacuation flow lines for Chengdu Passenger Station are designed. Flow algorithm to determine the number of personnel required for evacuation is proposed and demonstrated to be rational.Further more, countermeasures are explored from the two aspects of technical and management measures. The concept of an emergency control system is proposed, and also new inducing evacuation technology is introduced and designed in application. Last, some related evacuation measures are proposed. These measures provide references for safe design in the latter operation of the large railway passenger transport hub.
