With the city's economic development and continuous improvement of railway network system, rapid growth has taken place on railway passenger volume. Meanwhile large-scale railway constructions are carried out especially the high speed railway and inter-city rail lines. As a result, either the single passenger station capacity or the overall layout is difficult to meet the passenger demands. In this situation, more and more passenger stations are expanded and newly built, which promote the layout of passenger station to develop into a network system with more stations. However, the conflict between the station and the demands of passenger is rather prominent due to imperfect theory and the lack of supporting facilities. The previous theories about station layout mainly focus on qualitative and quantitative analysis involving different factors, which based on the constant passenger demands beyond the passenger choice behaviors. In fact, the station layout is determined by the passenger choice behaviors, that is, the layout is structured by judging passengers how to choose rather than determining them how to choose. This thesis gives a study summarization on the layout of passenger station both at home and abroad, finds out the shortcomings and provides a new measure of basing on passenger choice behaviors to solve the station layout. According to the analysis of the current research status, the thesis describes the features about the station layout and passenger choice behaviors and analyses the effect between them. Then, considering the fact that the passenger volume is variable with the reset station layout and the passenger flow shows multifarious, a Bi-level Programming Model is established to optimize the passenger station location in which the upper problem aims to maximize social benefits while the lower problem presents the users equilibrium model for multiclass with elastic demands. This model avoids the disadvantage of the previous theories about station layout basing on the constant passenger demands effectively. In addition, Genetic Algorithm is developed and the MATLAB software is used to solve the model. Finally, a given example of medium station network is used to verify that the model is effective to solve the station layout issue.
