Various types of large fans and pumps are the main power equipment in thermal power plants. Long-term continuous operation of these devices and often running at variable load, fan air volume adjustment by the entrance to the damper baffle to adjust, low efficiency, resulting in huge waste of energy.In this paper, aimed at the actual situation of Baotou II Thermal Power Plant, firstly, the energy-consuming equipments have been determined through collect the data of the plant running. Induced draft fans, pumps and other auxiliary equipment are the main power-consuming equipments, and analysis and completion of various economic renovations should be focusing on these power equipments.The basic speed control principle was analyzed of varies fan equipments, and the transformation of the energy savings were estimated. The structure and energy saving measure of the centrifugal fan have been analyzed. Through comparing of characteristics of a variety of speed control methods, and the frequency control technology is determined the appropriate induced draft fan energy-saving, and it is the specific programs of transformation. From the principle of the fans energy saving, the corresponding frequency system structure and parameters is determined.Finally, drive operational procedures and precautions, and the transformation of the former, compared the effects of post-show that using variable frequency control method will significantly improve the efficiency of wind turbine equipment. Utilizing frequency control speed can improve the fan working conditions, operation cost was reduced and energy was largely saved and there were obvious direct and indirect economic benefits.
