At present, the asphalt pavement in road construction mostly adopts the traditional material HMA(Hot Mix Asphalt). For HMA'S requirement of high temperature, asphalt and aggregate must be heated to a high level in the process of construction. It not only consumes a large amount of energy but also emits abundant of emissions and fumes which threaten the surrounding environment and the health of workersuring the operation of produce and construct. For these reasons, a new energy saving and environment protecting product WMA Warm Mix Asphalt is developed to fetch up the shortages of HMA. WMA is a kind of mix asphalt technology which can force asphalt to be mixed and compacted in a comparatively low temperature by the means of reducing its viscosity with the help of certain techniques. Meanwhile,it could maintain its performance which dose not below that of HMA.The paper mainly depend on transportation department yun nan province's science and technology item"technical study of WAM application"By mixing viscosity depressant to reduce the asphalt viscosity,obtain the rational mixing proportion of viscosity depressant,to get the mix and compaction's temperature,so that we take the rational mixing proportion to get basis, adopt the marshall experiment to get rational mixing proportion of viscosity depressant in different proportiong.then we take the compaction of marshall,the molding of SGC,the molding of rolling to research the Compaction Characteristics analysis of WMA.The results showed that: in corporation proper quantities viscosity depressant(EC120,sasobit)could bring down the high temperature of asphalt, so that the asphalt mixture would malaxation and compaction which is warm mix asphalt.By warm mix asphalt we could protect the evironment;Pavement performance of Warm Mix Asphalt should have high temperature stability, to that the rut resistance of asphalt pavement must be very good, in addition the water stability,the low temperature anticracking and fatigue properties have little varying, This shows that the Warm Mix Asphalt not only have lower Construction temperature of Asphalt Mixture but also make a good pavement performance of Asphalt Mixture. As a result, the WMA has the favorable effects of compaction in lower Construction temperature,but also the WMA has obvious economic,social role of energy saving and environmental protection.
