Waterfront exploration is becoming the focus of China's city construction. Among many other waterside cities, Qingdao Municipal and its residence are hoping to rebuild the waterfront of the old area or to develop new ones. With the increasingly solid economic base, the government is able to put on the agenda the renewal and redevelopment of waterfront areas. What's more, the government has realized that to develop waterfront areas can bring great opportunities to economic growth. Explorations of old waterfront areas, which are the golden areas of a city, can offer new choices to land use and reflect the economic transition, namely from manufacture-dominated economy to the balanced development of manufacture and service industry. Therefore, it is hoped to achieve the adjustment and transition of urban economy by rebuilding and redevelopment of urban land. In addition, the exploration of the old waterfront helps to enhance or even reshape the city image at the same time of providing more jobs.Successive development of the old urban waterfront is never to be easy.
