With the rapid development of economy, the performance-based seismic design theory has gained more and more attention. But for now, there are still some deficiencies to the research for the collapse-resistant capacity of the structural, which is based on the seismic performance. At the same time, the reinforced concrete frame structure on the elastic-plastic story drift limits is difficult to play a guiding role in engineering. In this paper, reinforced concrete frame structure is analyzed by incremental dynamic analysis to gain elastic-plastic story drift limits.In this paper, the major works are as following:(1) In this paper, the structural performance levels for seismic are studied. According to the seismic design codes and the characters of structure appraisal work, it proposes five performance levels for reinforced concrete frame structures. Through the performance levels are divided, several main factors affecting structure deformation are discussed. The story drift limits are primarily brought forward for each structural performance level.(2) This paper gives the basic principle of incremental dynamic analysis. Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) is a parametric analysis method, which can reflect the structure's demand capacity and a collapse-resistant capacity under the different intensity of future earthquakes. At the same time, it reflects better the change process of the structure to earthquakes stiffness, strength and deformation. For a particular structure and a particular ground motion record, the dynamic resistance of the overall structure can be estimated by a single IDA curve. In this paper, the specific parameters for IM-DM format are investigated thoroughly. The IDA calculation method being proposed there meets the existing conditions. Following, the corresponding single IDA curve is obtained.(3)The paper analyzes the reliability of response spectrum. Then it analyzes the probability statistics of the acceleration response spectrum ,which are based on the probability concept .The paper selects 309 new ground motion records under I site. and builds the three-dimensional distributed probability chart and cumulative probability chart with period. At one time it fits the response spectrum of the earthquake influence coefficient guaranteed by different probability under eight minimum security standards.(4)The 20 ground motion records under I site are selected. Then the reinforced concrete frame structure model with 3,6 and 9 story are established, according to the many earthquake records of IDA non-parametric methods. The paper analyzes the IDA curve which the probability is under 50%, 16% and 84%, and frame structural plastic story drift limit is obtained.
