The past decades, the rapid development of transport has brought unprecedented opportunities to the development of road construction machinery. Asphalt pavers or bituminous finishers are special machines for paving asphalt mixture, which are mixed by asphalt plants. It can pave asphalt mixture rapidly and uniformly on the road base, and by preliminary vibrating and leveling to form the effective pavement. It has been widely used in asphalt mixture paving operations of highways, urban roads and docks. Executive device is the core component of asphalt paver, whose performance will directly affect the quality of road. Therefore, studying executive device of asphalt paver has great theoretical and realistic means.The mainly content of this paper are shown below:(1) The paper introduces the history, research status and development tendency of the mechanical electro-hydraulic technology. Executive device and its control method is analyzed in detail, not only design method is introduced, but also the simulation has been finished.(2) The simulation of tamper system of asphalt paver has been achieved by using AMESim. The simulation results show that the dynamic performance of system will be improved, when accumulator and PID controller were equipped. Besides, the tamping frequency of hammer is very important to the performance of system. When tamping frequency of hammer over 20HZ, the performance of system will go bad.(3) In order to obtain a constant speed, fuzzy-PI dual-mode control has been adopted, and the simulation has been achieved by using Matlab. The simulation results show that when the fuzzy-PI dual-mode control is adopted, the system not only can obtain fast response, but also there is no steady state error.(4) The simulation of screw distributor system of asphalt paver has been achieved by using AMESim. The simulation results show that the dynamic performance of system will be improved, when accumulator and PID controller were equipped. It will be of great significance to improve the finish of road.(5) In order to solve this problem that single-eccentric vibrator will cause horizontal-direction force, double-eccentric vibrator has been proposed, it not only can eliminate horizontal-direction force, but also can provide twice the compacting force. It will be of great significance to improve the quality of roads. Through the analysis to screed, it is easy to know that the changes of asphalt concrete and the changes in paving speed will cause changes in the thickness of mat, it will do harm to the finish of road. The simulation of compacting mechanism of asphalt paver has been achieved by using Matlab. The simulation results show that the parameters of vibrator and tamper have a great influence to screed. However, parameters of compacting beams have a small influence to screed. When the frequency of compacting beams is 40HZ, the frequency of tamper is 25HZ and the frequency of vibrator is 25HZ, we can obtain a smooth mat.
