With the development of the economy and society and the improvement of living standards, people's requirements of the quality of building indoor air environment are rising. Especially after the SARS and H1N1, healthy and comfortable indoor environment not only means thermal comfort, but also means excellent indoor air quality. Excellent indoor air quality is always along with good outdoor fresh air ventilation. While air ventilation and fresh air introduction always bring energy lost. In order to reuse this energy, air to air energy recovery equipment is put forward in this paper. Accompanying with air ventilation, some energy is recycled.Generally, when the theoretical research and experimental test work of air to air energy recovery equipment are completed, we have to put it into practice. And then the validity of such energy-saving devices has to be verified by the analysis of actual operating conditions. In this paper the pilot project of air to air energy recovery equipment is set up in Harbin city which is as the representative of severe cold regions. The relevant air to air energy recovery equipment is designed and chosen according to the specific circumstances of pilot project, the air ventilation system as well. The winter run testing to the air ventilation system is carried out, which can be divided into two testing periods. During the two periods some parameters have to be tested, such as the air flow volume of air ventilation system, heat transfer efficiency of the air to air energy recovery equipment (including temperature of indoor and outdoor air), the power of fan consumed and the system's heat recovery calculated, etc. The efficiency of air ventilation and indoor air quality can be evaluated by the air flow volume. Both the heat transfer efficiency of the air to air energy recovery equipment and the temperature of indoor and outdoor air tested can tell us the system's capacity in heat transfer and indoor thermal comfort improving. According to the power of fan consumed and the system's heat recovery calculated, we can transform the power consumed and heat recovered into standard coal consumption to comparative analysis, which is used to evaluated the efficiency of heat recovery and energy saving.Besides, by the test results, we can evaluate the heat transfer efficiency of air to air energy recovery equipment. Some problems and shortages, which may come out in applying air-air heat recovery application of severe cold regions, and warnings have been raised in this paper. Above all, our research results will provide theoretical and experimental guidance for applying and popularizing air to air energy recovery equipment.
