Research On The Public Space Of Traditional Settlements In Southeast Hubei

The public space of Traditional Settlements reflects traditional culture and values with geographical features. Based on the investigation and research, I try toanalyze the relationship between the public space of Traditional Settlements In Southeast Hubei and social structures, built environment,as well as the interaction between various kinds of social communication. and to analyze it from different types of public space , in order to provide references for preservation and renewal of Traditional Settlements.In the first chapter, the background, the purpose and significance of this research, relevant concepts and the framework are presented.In Chapter 2,I Explain the the relationship between the public space of traditional settlements and rural society from the theory.Study on the public space of traditional Settlements from anthropological or sociological. According to the research on the cultural background of public space and social factors ,study the relationship between different public space and three types of society exchange form.Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 studying on space forms and public buildings are the main parts of this thesis. Chapter 3 studys the formation and development of the traditional settlements form ,according to the analysis of characteristics of traditional settlements in southeastern Hubei and theimpact of migration on village layout. Then I try to tease the traditional village public space and the architectural environment from analysis of elements of public space and construction method,for studying the relationship between elements of space and Human activities, as well as the the cultural heritage factors. In chapter 4, it analyzes the layout and type of space in public building, discusses the cause why Public buildings has become an important public space combined with clan relations and social status.Case studies are used in Chapter 5. I research on the Characters of publis spaces in the traditional settlements in Southeast Hubei,through the analysis of The overall spatial form, street structure, public node and public buildings of several typical traditional village in Southeast Hubei.Chapter 6 is the conclusion.
