Research On The Traditional Construction Techniques Of Southeast Hubei

In the southeast country of Hubei, the traditional neighbourhood and its construction technology are passed down generation by generation. According to the research on the southeast country of Hubei by vernacular architecture research center of HUST (Huazhong University of Science and Technology), it has become possible to summarize and elaborate the characteristic and construction technology of the traditional neighbourhood in the southeast country of Hubei.This paper will take folk dwelling in the southeast country of Hubei as the case study, which will be divided into two aspects: firstly it will be started from dwelling itself; secondly it will be discussed from craftsman and his technology. The methodology consists of massive field investigation and in many craftsman interviews, carrying on the comprehensive record, the reorganization, the analysis and the comparison research to the traditional neighbourhood.The main body will be divided into seven chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, mainly elaborated the folk dwelling protection importantly and the necessity. The second one brief introduce its traditional residence category and characteristic. The third one summarized its local humanities building custom. The fourth and fifth chapters separately introduced it from the carpenter and the tile stonemason's workshop the folk dwelling characteristic. The sixth chapter from craftsman obtaining, on the craftsman scholarship, the life and the present situation have made a comprehensive description. The last the chapter is the conclusions and suggestions.Under volumes of investigations and studies, it is concluded that traditional neighbourhood in the southeast country of Hubei is the cultural and historic heritage: its conservation becomes increasing significant and urgent. Hope this research can provide the helpful opinions for the southeast country of Hubei.
