This paper takes small and medium cities as the pointcut. the first and second chapter defined and summarized the concept and characteristics of residential areas'commercial space in the medium and small cities; Then, the third chapter analyzed respectively from three ways : urban planning macro perspective, drawed factors from urban commercial network planning to analyse on specific settings of residential areas'commercial space, studied deeply the influence of different factors on residential areas'commercial space of small and medium cities; specific to the characteristics of settlements household in small and medium urban, analysed the behavior of each types of shopping and from shopping psychological view, summed up design principles that should be noted in commercial space; from the level of space environment, classified the interactions construction of residential areas'commercial space in small and medium cities, to strengthen the methods of creating the shopping atmosphere.Then, the fourth chapter further strengthened and improved the analysis assumptions of the previous stage by using relevant researching methods on selected c to demonstrate. Finally, the fifth and sixth chapter putted forward interactive principles and corresponding countermeasures on the current residential areas'commercial space in small and medium cities. And maked a prospects and forecasts to the future development trend.Through this study, hoped to inspire the design and improvement of residential areas'commercial space in small and medium cities. And no longer apply the experience of big cities mechanically, designing residential areas'commercial space that meet the needs of household in small and medium cities more targetly.
