In recent years tourism is highly promoted nationwide in order to cover the substances and spirit requirement well. At the same time, the government places a high premium on the investment and construction of scenic spots of travelling that have local traits. To imitate traditional dwellings full of cultural and regional features is viewed as vital to the development of local tourism.This research focuses on the actual application value of decoration design and method for traditional dwellings in west area of Hubei Province. The research analyzes exhaustively the decoration traits and structures of suspended wooden house in west area of Hubei Province, as well as summarizes its all kinds of traditional forms and patterns, thus make possible the rebirth of once forgotten decoration style and structure mode in history. Endowed with today's innovation, modern dwellings in west area of Hubei Province could receive organic renewal and sustained exploitation, by which the designers would be provided with suitable design and theoretical support during imitation.Through the knowledge of tenon-mortise structure and column and tie construction, and through an absorption of history and culture of Tujia National Minority in west area of Hubei Province , this research summarizes an original structural pattern of wood interweaving, which is applied into"point, line and plane"of landscape design. These decorative signs, which represent regional culture, would create an appealing atmosphere for buildings and landscape.
