Road container transportation is an essential and indispensable part of door-to-door transportation chain which is often the extension service for hinterland transportation from ports, railway station. According to the loading status, road container transportation can be divided into heavy load and empty load. We call the empty load transportation as deadhead. A relevant investigation data shows that the ratio of deadhead for road container transportation reaches as high as 37 percent in China, while less than 20 percent in the developed countries. The reason is the decentralization and disordered phenomenon existed in the organization of road container transportation. So building a public IT platform can act as the best connection media for the shipper and the service providers, which are counterparts of a transportation business. The online business information will help both sides to get enough information to finish the business, which can help to improve container trucks utilization ratio and reduce the deadhead ratio successfully.The paper analyzes the business process of road container transportation and studies its own feature deeply. Base on the rational and efficient matching principles, this paper focuses on how to effectively establish the business model based on the open information of cargos and container truck. We found three different business models which are"truck matching goods","goods matching truck"and"truck truck combination". We also design three corresponding algorithms for the three business models. Thus we make up an effective relationship between container truck and cargos that will help to eliminate the phenomenon of deadhead. So the platform can help to realize heavy transportation on both way which can increase the transportation efficiency and reduce the cost as well.First of all, this paper analyzes the current situation of road container transportation in China, and a common business process also been introduced. Secondly, the two online business patterns, which are "bidding pattern" and "automatically matching pattern", are designed to satisfy three different business models. An effective matching algorithm has been designed and corresponding economic benefit has also been analyzed based on the simulating data. Finally, the technical architecture and implementation method of the platform has also been proposed.
