Bored piles have been widely used in practical engineering, but are most likely subjected to the defect of stem broken, which would affect the bearing behavior of pile foundations. It is necessary to have in-depth researches on broken piles. The present researches both at home and abroad, primary focus on the causes, test and treatment of pile breakages, but are less in working behavior and mechanism. In this paper, it studies and analyzes the vertical bearing behavior of normal pile and broken pile with different locations through laboratory model tests and numerical analysis via PLAXIS 2D finite element software.According to a complete set of simulation method of normal pile and broken pile which was made by the test purpose, and in the full preparatory work of the premise, it was concluded that the load-settlement curves of normal pile and broken pile through the indoor model pile tests. It showed that with the defect of the broken pile position close to the pile top, the bearing behavior of the pile loses more. In addition, the plunged period of broken pile associates with the height of the fault. To analyze the date of loading-settlement of single pile, pile axial force and frictional resistance, through the loading conditions of normal pile and broken pile under PLAXIS 2D and model tests, it is suggested that defect of broken pile only affects the bearing behavior of the pile before the upper broken pile and the lower one joint, and the bearing behavior of broken pile is similar to normal pile after they joint. The law of vertical bearing behavior of normal pile and broken pile obtained by comprehensive analysis and compare on the data of indoor model tests and PLAXIS 2D numerical analysis was in substantial agreement. It is indicated that the constituted indoor model test and FEM simulation method can effectively simulate the practical condition. Based on the data of test and numerical analysis, it is summarized the raw how defect affects the bearing behavior of single pile. To some extent, it reveals the bearing behavior and working mechanisms of broken piles, and it may present guidance to the analysis and assessment of defective pile behavior with breakage.
