The study on seepage field and analysis of slope stability of reservoir has been aimportant topic in the dam construction. They have been directly related to the economicbenefits and security of the dam. It has been of great significance to recognize the damseepage failure type, the discipline and theory of seepage, and thus study on seepage field.The dam seepage has existed for along time since Chang Wuji Reservoir has been builtand put into operation. It was a serious threat to the safety of reservoirs and downstreampeople's lives and property. So it is very necessary and urgent to conduct Seepage andstability analysis.It was due to the above background, the author explored the theories and methodsabout seepage calculation and slope stability analysis of earth-rock dam, and carried outthe seepage calculation and stability analysis in view of the security risks existed inChang wuji Reservoir dam. Based on the Summary of earth dam diseases types anddisease causes, the author further explored the discipline and seepage failure mechanismof seepage, then established the seepage calculation model of earth-rock dam on the basisof the Darcy's law, and used the finite element seepage calculation principle for seepagecalculation of the study area, drawn the corresponding seepage line in three kinds ofdifferent working situations in order to made evaluation and analysis for seepage stability.On the Bases of seepage calculations, calculated the slope stability of the dam with RigidBody Limit Equilibrium Method in different conditions of steady seepage, drawn thecorresponding slip arc location map, in order to better correctly analyze and evaluate thestatus of the slope stability of the dam exactly.According to the seepage calculation, the largest single-wide seepage discharge is0.430m3/d.m and the Maximum level seepage gradient is0.56. After analysis, the seepage discharge is relatively large, easily leaded to the loss of dam soil, and localinfiltration and sabotage is produced easily in the high-water conditions. So the seepageis unstable. Through the sliding stability calculation, minimum safety factor of sliding arcof three different working conditions are:1.198,1.051,1.016. Compared it with aminimum factor of safety specifications, downstream slope does not meet the stabilityagainst sliding requirements in the design flood level and check flood level conditions.So the dam slope was unstable. The paper summed up the discipline of the penetration ofthe dam: as the higher the water level under different operating conditions, the greater theimpact of seepage on the stability of earth-rock damfor a comprehensive analysis of seepage calculation and slope stability calculation,that the dam in these two aspects were both not stable. There are security risks in thehigh-water case, so it was urgent need to deal with its impermeable reinforcement.
