In the recent years, with the rapid development of urbanization, the subway transportation has been the one of the main tools to solve the urban traffic problems in China. Shanghai and Beijing subway transportation have entered into the network operation phase. Problems of maintenance deficiency and surplus emerge in the traditional schedule maintenance model for the subway equipment. Reliability centered maintenance (RCM) analysis method is the first choice of maintenance analysis with the full consideration of the relationship between the equipment reliability and maintenance economy. However, the traditional RCM analysis has shortcomings in the importance analysis and status value determination and so on. Under this background, study on the state value determination and maintenance decision making for subway equipment has important practical significance.The improved RCM analysis method for the subway equipment is put forward. Status value and weight has been determined in the case of the different types of subway machinery equipment and an evaluation method of variable weight synthesizing status value with variable weight synthesizing theory. Level division, coding and importance evaluation for the subway equipment has been made to identify three different important type of the subway equipment. Logic decision diagram method and gray situation decision-making method is used in the subway equipment maintenance decision, and regular maintenance intervals optimization model and condition-based maintenance intervals optimization model are established, which take full account of the reliability, economy and other factors of subway equipment.The article takes the Shanghai subway brake system and door system as the example for empirical analysis on the variable weight synthesizing status evaluation method and subway equipment maintenance decision method and the results shows that the study is with great practical value.
