Automatic optimal design of beam system of high-piled wharf is a process that all of the design tasks are supposed to be completed in a program. It includes the whole process of the analytical calculation of structure and reinforcement drawing by the program. (1) Transition of the prototype of the harbor to the simulation model. (2) Mechanics analysis of structure, internal force and load combination according to the specifications, calculation of the internal force value for the most dangerous section, determination of the section size, strength design of section, calculation of steel area. (3) According to the results of the structure calculation, a series of detail structure design such as design of distributed steel and the truncation of bars, etc. have been done. Component design not only requires these sections meet the strict requirements of the envelope diagram of internal force, but also the main steel, stirrup and other constructional reinforcement must be complied with the relevant specifications and the design experience. (4)Entire content of the structure design and geometric position in the whole structure have been displayed in the form of geometric shapes. Reinforcement drawing is connected with AutoCAD via intermediated graphic file DXF, which can be identified by AutoCAD. In this paper, the process of determination of steel area have been optimized. The compiled program runs well. Taking Cheyanghe Wharf for Jingzhou Port Songzi Port Area as computational examples, compared with designing result of a Design Institute, the validity of the corresponding program is proved.
