The electromagnetic railgun is a new concept weapon,its technology has inestim ableapplication potential not only in the military field, but also in aviation, aerospace,transportation, industrial production, scientific research and other fields. The developedcountries take seriously and study deeply from the strategic height.The important parameters of electromagnetic railgun is designed reasonably is theimportant measures to improve projectile launching velocity.To get the target,thearmature movement model of the railgun is established, and optimization calculation withthe optimization method.First,this paper introduces the working principle, the important parameters and thebasic structure of the railgun on the basics, the armature movement model of the railgunis established. Both The important parameters including the drive current of the railgunand plasma armature force and so on and the viscous resistance, erosion resistance, airresistance and friction resistance.all analysis individually. the armature movement modelof the railgun is solved by using the item combination method and get its the generalsolution.Secondly,According to the armature movement model of the railgun, determine theequation of armature speed to regard as the objective function, the driving current andarmature running time the first design variables,the track pitch, tracks of high andarmature running time to regard as the second design variables, respectively optimizationcalculation with penalty function interior point method and pattern search method andmake analysis for the optimization result.Finally,the optimizations result find the drive current and inductance gradient areimportant factors to restrict the armature speed, which will lead to the increase of thearmature speed by their increase. The optimization values(the track pitch, tracks of highand armature running time) will reduce with inductance gradient increase. To achieve thepurpose of impoving projectile launcher speed with adjusting the drive current,inductance gradient, the track pitch and tracks of high. It is important especially that three-dimensional optimization is more close to reality than two-dimensional aboutoptimization calculation of the railgun.These researches and resultes not only can promote and enrich the theory of therailgun but also provide a theoretical basis and technical support for designed andmanufactured of the railgun,therefore, it will push a development to a higher stage on therailgun.
