Constant Velocity Joint (CVJ) is one of key components of vehicles, which directlyinfluence vehicle's steering and propulsion performance. Therefore, it is vital for vehicledriving and maneuvering performance to improve its durability performance. Precisionforging parts as one of key components of CVJ is one part of automotive components thatis hard to achieve localization without high-tech equipment.The topic of this paper came from an cold-forged mould localization project of Scompany's second session precision forging production line: cold-forged mould workingcondition, failure mode, performance requirement and heat-treatment process are studiedbased on theoretic and experimental analysis; features and notices of high speed cuttingprocess are concluded, which include appropriate way to select high speed processequipment, its control system, CAM software, tooling, and machine connector, processformulation, CAM programming and process parameter optimization;3-dimentionedprecise inspector is analyzed.The outcome of this paper is as followings: high speed steel is selected with heattreatment process; cold-forged mold was manufactured and tested in line with drawingrequired dimension and tolerance; measurement solution by using3-dimentioned preciseinspector is designed and completed. The success in localization of cold-forged moldprovides the enterprise with huge economic benefit, which proves various key technologieshave applicable advantages and promising future in mold manufacturing field.
