Now environmental pollution and general energy crisis is becoming more and more serious in the world. This requires a high demand of emission power and economy performance of diesel engines. The electronic control technology is an effective way to improve all kind of performance of diesel engines. Compared with foreign advavced country, the level of digital electronic control technique is low, so more research on it must be done. With the rapid development of microelectronics technique, using microcontroller with superior performance in the speed regulation technique, adopting advanced control strategy and optimizing the entire diesel engine condition control has become the mainstream research on electronic control technique for diesel engines. In this paper, using the virtual instrument as platform and Heinzmann electronic speed simulator as the control object, the fuzzy-PID control used on the speed control of diesel engine was studied.First, the control system used the PCI-6221 as the core was designed, according to the control system requirements. Control strategy is the core of control system, the features of the PID and fuzzy control algorithm was analysed in this paper, the PID control is difficult to control the nonlinear process etc, the fuzzy control is equivalent the PD control, which has a discrete input, and also has an ineffective control in the small deviation. In the MATLAB/simulink, the model of diesel engine and actuator were established and the fuzzy-PID controller was designed. Then the simulation research was conducted, simulation results show that the fuzzy-PID control has the advantages of fast response,small overshoot wide range of control etc.Second, the control system circuit was designed, including the signal conditioning circuit of speed,current,displacement and the drive circuit of actuator.Based on virtual instruments hardware, the control system software using the LabVIEW. signal acquisition module, drive and control module,fuzzy-PIDcontroller, were compiled,which used Labview and modular design method. At the same time, the friendly human-machine exchange interface was edited. The friendly human-machine exchange interface show the main parameters of control system timely, and modify the control parameters on the lineFinally, Heinzmann electronic speed simulator as the control object, the fuzzy-PID control and PID control were tested. Tests showed that the fuzzy-PID control system has the advantages of overshoot small, corresponding rate fast, compared with PID control.
