| With the appearance of the heavy traffic, the damage of asphalt pavement becomes more and more serious, The ultimately research result of America Strategic Highway Research Program(SHRP) is Superior Performance Asphalt Pavement(Superpave), Superpave is used widely in the highway project construction,and the good performance of Superpave mixture is well recognized in the road engineering circle. In developed countries, like U.S.,Gyration compactors are applyed during the process of designing and field quality construction control.However, our country, because of the economic limition, most of construction contractors and supervise agencies cannot own the gyration compactors, so the disjunction problems exist between Superpave mix design and field construction control.At present,The main method which is used in the asphalt mix design and field quality control is automatic Marshall compactor,but the Marshall range of control indexs are not available to the Superpave,So It's significant to research which Marshall constrol indexs and the rang of indexs to control Superpave field quality. Meanwhile it's meaningful to the pavement structure Practical Performance and lifetime.Three types of Superpave mixtures(Sup25,Sup20,Sup 13) from project A,B,C,D in Inner Mongolia highway was researched, Gyration compaction tests and Marshall tests are conducted during construction respectively.By comparing the two kinds of experimental results, the field quality control key indexs was confirmed in use of Marshall method, then determination method of the Marshall key indexs control range was analysised, and put forward the range of Marshall key indexs which become a component of mix field quality control during construction.Through the analysis and investigation of the engineering measured data, Marshall method which used to control Superpave mixtures in construction stage was feasible. The main control indexs were voids of total mix (VTM), voids of mineral aggregate (VMA), asphalt saturation (VFA) and Marshall stability, flow value. Each index control range have noting to do with Job mix formular(JMF), So during the process of asphalt mix verification,it is needed to adjust the gradation in order the volumetric correspond to the JMF, defined it as Standard Mix Formula(SMF).the Marshall control index rang was proportional to Standard Mix Formula(SMF), and different mixtures are different.VTM control limits,Sup25 is SMF±1.1, Sup20 and Supl3 are SMF±0.9; VMA control limits,Sup25 is SMF±1.0, Sup20 and Sup 13 are SMF±0.9; VFA control limits,Sup25 is SMF±5, Sup20 is SMF±4,Sup13 is SMF±4.It is suggest that Sup25 (plain asphalt mix) Marshall stability no less than 7.4KN,Sup20(modified asphalt mix) Marshall stability no more than 11.54KN,Sup13(modified asphalt mix) no more than 11.87KN.
