With the fast-growing of world airways passenger transport demand and the changes of route structure from the type of city to city to center of radiation, every airport, especially the large airports are undergoing a new round of expansion. But when the airport has more runways and larger buildings, the function and potentiality of the airport would be difficult to be fully exploited if there is a landside traffic system with insufficient ability. From the current situation, landside traffic problems have become the main restrict factor in the development of air transport, the conditions of landside traffic not only affect the operating efficiency of airports and airlines, but also become a major consideration of the whole community and the environmental protection department. How to settle and improve the join traffic of airport have generally been concerned. The several decades'development of airports in some European countries indicates that airports will eventually become focusing points of various modes of transportation. As a regional transport hub, airports must establish three-dimensional and multi-mode transportation network system. As the building of Chinese comprehensive passenger transport system, airport break through the traditional air transport functions. Now, the airports not only include the highways, high-speed railways, intercity rail and other intercity transportation functions, but also have urban rail transport, conventional buses, taxis and other urban transport functions. In this context, the relationship of the different transfer ways in the airport is becoming more and more complex, the planning and construction of landside traffic system of comprehensive airport urgently need to be on the agenda.The main work of this paper is landside traffic demand prediction and road system planning of an international airport. First, the entrance and departure time distribution regularity of passenger were statistical analyzed according to the survey data of airport business scale and airline taking off and landing sorties. The landside traffic system operation situation was detailed investigated and in-depth analyzed, and the main existing problems were summarized. Second, the passenger and freight volume and the share rate of transportation modes were predicted, on the basis, the landside traffic volume was predicted, and then sensitivity analysis of the predication results were made. Finally, choosing connecting road design as an example of airport landside system planning, the main road of airport landside traffic system was designed according to the prediction results, and the design scheme was simulated through the software Vissim. The research in this paper would provide the reference for airport landside traffic system planning.
