It is a complex systematic engineering to develop aircraft carriers. As continuous developments of modern technologies and military theories, designers can't simply rely on weapons, electronic equipments and other facilities to enhance operational performance. They need to proceed from the overall design to improve crew's working efficiency and the crew's living quality. They need to constantly improve shapes of aircraft carriers, the arrangements of compartments, the uses of compartment facilities and so on.Habitability of a ship is the performance of crew's living and working conditions in general. It is an important evaluation indicator of performances of aircraft carriers The research of this paper is the habitability of aircraft carriers'living compartments. The arrangements of living compartments is studied and analyzed in this paper. The main work of this paper includes the following 4 aspects:First of all, in order to have an integral understanding and systematic control of compartment arrangement, the living compartments in aircraft carrier was divided into following 4 categories:sleeping compartments, feeding compartments, medical compartments and ministrant compartments on basis of the knowledge on compartment arrangement in aircraft carriers, the requirement in military standard on habitability of military naval ships and the contemporary status of modern aircraft carriers. It analyzed the living compartment of foreign carriers which included the Russian Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier, the American Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and the French Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier. Under an overview of the various arrangements of living compartments, the detailed drawing of compartment arrangement were given.Secondly, living compartments were divided into three parts in this paper, including integral environment, local environment and supporting facilities. This paper studied and analyzed the rules on habitability of foreign and domestic military naval ships.Thirdly, this paper refered to the rules on habitability of the foreign and domestic military naval ships, and some suggests for making rules on the habitability of aircraft carriers were given.Finally, the gray-level analysis method was used to evaluate the compartment arrangements of aircraft carriers and an evaluation method for the habitability of aircraft carriers was given. It attempted to establish a system of the habitability index and three examples were given to explain how to get index and evaluate habitability. It used analysis method to determine weight coefficients of each factor. It calculated the gray evaluation factors and the weight coefficients, then a comprehensive evaluation matrix were generated, ultimately the optimal solution of the habitability was calculated.
