The flat building technology which has become one of the mature shipbuilding methods in Japan and Republic of Korea, is becoming more and more popular in the major.shipyards of China, with the shipbuilding centre of the world moving to China. Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group is the best domestic shipyard to imply the flat building technology because of the best hardware conditions, such as the horizontal building berths, horizontal sites of overall combination and the shifting equipments. This paper does the research about the flat building technology application..This paper does the research on the four major aspects. The first is the study of the site layout and the shifting method, with the continuous improvement of the batch, it gives challenge to the optimization of the site of overall combination, such as how to put the segmentations in the most reasonable place in order to facilitate transport to the berth and how to make the Walking distance of gantry crane and tower crane as short as possible to complete the lifting process. This paper does the best to optimize the way of overall combination by optimizing the division of the segmentations and total segments. All lifting and lightering equipment in all departments is listed and contrasted in this paper on the study of overall combination methods of shipment. Constantly updated equipment provides the most solid hardware to the increase of the continuous rationalization of shipbuilding mode. The second is the study of the positioning technology of total segment and the method of quick disconnect. The positioning technology of total segment is the most widely used technology in shipbuilding and the most core technology and is also one of the technologies with a larger number of technical difficulties in the entire construction process, and the method of quick disconnect is an important way to improve the utilization factor of the equipments basing on the method of quick embarking. The third is the research of six fixed production of bulk carrier which is very important to the development of the ground shipbuilding and is the necessary road to enhance efficiency. The fourth is the research of construction process simulation technology, which is a hot spot in recent years.
