Matrix converter is a new power converter, which enables direct AC - AC transformation. It is no large-capacity energy storage components, but with fast dynamic response, high input power factor, energy can flow in both directions, with good output voltage and input current waveform. The good performance of matrix converter, one can apply them into asynchronous machine AC speed control, in the other, to meet increasingly stringent power quality requirements. On the traditional frequency control system given the pollution in the side of power grid, proposed matrix converter is applied to asynchronous machine AC speed control. Paper from matrix converter topology, switching function, commutation strategy, introduced the basic principles of matrix converter. Then starting from the space vector modulation strategy for in-depth analysis of the AC-AC matrix converter modulation strategy, and compared to the classic AC-DC-AC converter, and given the result that the AC-AC MC system has a serious of merits: without the intermediate large storage capacitor; no pollution to the power grid and so on . Then gives the matrix converter current loop control system and gives the detailed design of the main circuit, input filter, clamp protection circuit, control circuit and driver circuit. Finally giving the system Simulink simulation, simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and correctness of the strategy. The paper shows that the matrix converter applied to asynchronous machine VVVF on improving the power quality has great potential, to the national low-carbon, energy saving, environmental protection has far-reaching significance.
