Hydro Viscous Drive (HVD) is a controllable hydraulic integration soft-start device, which is based on Newton's law of internal friction, viscosity of the liquid to pass the oil film shear torque. Viscous Clutch is an ideal device for the condition of low speed and heavy load. Compared with conventional shafts, the mechanical of the drive shaft is more complex. So the key technology of ensuring components safety and structural design science is the right and completely stress analysis for drive shafts. The input shaft and output shaft are the key components of viscous clutch, which are used to transfer torque and adjust the speed of input and output. Many radial and axial holes and keyway for oil are made to meet the functional needs and control oil, so the structure of the input shaft and output shaft is relatively complex. With the rapid development of computer technology, the method of using finite element technique to analyze and computer-aided calculate the important parts of the key parts has aroused more and more attention and gradually developed into a trend of modern design. In view of the complex loading condition for the input shaft and output shaft of viscous speed devices and high reliability requirements, using the finite element method to analyzing the drive shaft comprehensively to grasp the actual forces, which has a theory guide practice and engineering significance to improve the device's overall performance. The type of viscous Clutch 250-1500 was selected for the study. Mechanical models of the input shaft and output shaft were established on the base of the traditional theory and the strength of the bending moment and torque of the key part of drive components were checked. Using the software of ANSYS to analyze the shaft, the maximum bending moment, torque and dangerous section are further demonstrated. The solid model of drive shaft was established by three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E and imported with the ANSYS software interface to the data to convert to the finite element model. The element type and material properties of finite element model were defined to mesh the model and define the boundary conditions to solve it. The more complete, more detailed, more accurate grasp on the stress and strain axis and the axis of the risk profile of the...
