With the development of city and the demand of production and operation, the functions of buildings are more and more diversified, especially the rapid development of comprehensive commercial buildings, which often beyond present fire protection codes. The fire of commercial buildings in result in the lost of casualty and property which is the most among all types of fire hazards. It is important to study the performance-based fire protection design and assessment of large shopping centre with the performance-based fire protection measures because it's aim is to reduce casualties in fire hazards and keep the stability and sustaining development of social economy.Based on the problems of fire protection existing in the project of Zhenxing street in Jinan, a series of problems on fire simulation of performance-based fire protection design and assessment of large shopping centre are as follows:fire load, fire scenarios, heat release rate, smoke evacuation and air supply, author's experience of fire development model FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator). A series of problems on performance-based fire protection design and assessment of large shopping centre for the crowd evacuation simulation are studied, such as human psychology and behavior of staff of commercial buildings in fire hazards, the design of crowd value in business halls, criterion of crowd safety evacuation, brief introduction crowd evacuation model. A Simulex evacuation the application of the software in detail and set model that need to be imitate in Simulex are also studied in the thesis.According to the research on performance-based fire protection design and assessment in the first two chapters, fire prevention design and reasonable adjustment are made to solve the problems existed in comprehensive commercial buildings with the help of FDS and Simulex simulation software. The thesis also confirmed the fire prevention which should be strengthened and put forward some safe measures to solve these problems. These measures can solve the problems in fire fight in commercial building and satisfy the needs of evacuation.Above all, the performance-based fire protection design and assessment can solve the problems in design in a more scientific, safe and economical way for a comprehensive commercial building which is often beyond present fire protection codes.
