Along with the increase of the capacity and scale of power system, the transformer substation plays a key role as a hinged carrier of power transformation and distribution. The impact of equipment fault has become deeper and deeper on the system operation, If we can't manage it well, the collapse of the whole system will occur and then a large mount of loss will be brought out. In addition, accompany with the reformation of power system put into practice, the problem that how to control the product costing has to be taken into consideration for each power enterprise. The enterprise product costing will be cut down in great by implementing the strategy of equipment condition monitor and fault diagnosis, and changing the policy of Time-Based Maintenance to that of condition-based maintenance. This thesis is based on the fact of the power system. It describes the purpose, significance and content of the condition-based maintenance of substation equipment, and studies the application and development of condition-based maintenance in and outside of the country. And introduce the transformer, oil-filled transformers, capacitors types of equipment, Lightning arresters, circuit breakers and other equipment, on-line monitoring techniques, as well as the principle of infrared temperature measurement technology and applications, and combines practical work and related characteristics of the product, discussed in detail on-line monitoring technique in running the application on the substation equipment, while from a technical point of view illustrates the power grid in the implementation of condition-based maintenance possibilities.
