With the rapid development of the current technological, electronic ctransformers with small size, good insulation, high precision and other significant advantage has been gradually used in the transform of the digital substation. Digital substation, which based on IEC61850 standard has a preferred position in the transform of the automation system in digital substation. It provides not only an effective solution to resolve the setbacks of traditional electromagnetic transformers, but also favorable protection for the transition from traditional substation to digital substation.This paper begins by describing the significance of the research Substation automation system and domestic and international situation, understand with the current characteristics of digital substation, researching the Data collector based on IEC61850. According to the requirements of IEC-61850 technical standards, the paper is to study the demand and characteristics of the interface between Data collector in process level and primal device, and between Data collector and secondary device in bay level, including the techniques of data collection, analysis and processing, transmission, especially the techniques of synchronous sampling based on GPS, CRC-8, communication reliability, DA FIR Filter, FFT computing power parameters etc based on FPGA. By ISE and Matlab for the design and simulation the feasibility and reliability, and finally by the actual installation, commissioning, verify that the system can meet the requirements of the digital substation communications.
