Lighting rod,as well as lighting-proof rod,is an installation which is used toprotect the buildings from the lighting strike. The classic method of design usuallyneeds more manpower and more money to figure and test;and the method of CAD canadvance the efficient of work greatly. The require of the performance of the lighting rodis that the transmutation of the structure on statics and dynamics must be in the allowedconfine. The structural design of lighting rod not only has rigidity,strength and lengthof service,but also consider the reliability and the security. It is useful to enhance thecapability of lighting rod and the security,prolong the length of service. Thus,theresearch about the structural design of lighting rod and the analysis has become moreand more important.Based on the theory of finite element,mechanical vibration,elasticity and contactmechanics, this text made finite elements analysis of hexagonal pyramid lighting rod indetail by utilizing ANSYS software. In the choice of materials,taking the typhoonweather frequent and the power of the wind in account,the steel material is used,whichhas the higher mechanical strength. So we choose the Q345taking the difficulty of thewelding in account. In addition,the lighting rod is placed long-term in a harshenvironment,which has high salt,high air humidity,big temperature difference betweenday and night,so it needs hot galvanizing preventing the rusting failure. In the structureshape,we change the usual cylindrical shape with the new six pyramid shape. Thischange reduces the processing difficulty on one hand,and it reduces the power of thewind lowing the face of wind on the other hand. The analysis of finite elements includesthe calculation of strength and rigidity on statics,the calculation of strength and rigidityon typhoon,the natural vibration frequency and harmonic response on force,thecalculation of fatigue strength and length of service on circular typhoon.The new method of the structural design improve the force distribution of lightingrod. It both increases the height of the structure reducing the size and weight,andimproves the safety reliability prolonging the length of service. This text made theanalysis of finite element in theory,which provide reference on the structural design andthe installation work.
