Since30years of reform and opening, with China's national economydeveloping and city's scale expanding rapidly, the quantity of private cars,passenger flow and freight flow is expanding; this leads to lots of problems,such as traffic congestion, environment pollution and energy consumption.Because urban public transport mode has lots of characters such as large volume,high efficiency, low pollution etc, it is becoming one of the key means to solveurban traffic problems. It needs to be solved urgently for urban publictransportation enterprise how to promote the level of monitoring and schedulingof operation vehicles and to improve transport efficiency and service qualitybased on existing traffic capacity.Through consulting amount of literatures and integrating the research resultat home and abroad, analyzing and studying the technology of GPS, GPRS andMCU, according to the requirements of the intelligent public bus monitor anddispatching system, the design scheme of the public bus vehicle terminalequipment is described in detail in this paper. By analyzing the intelligent publicbus monitor&dispatching system and the vehicle terminal system, therequirements of function and performance of the vehicle terminal system is clear.Based on the system requirements, the technical solutions is determined on howto combining MCU, GPS, GPRS, infrared and voice technology, and the systemscheme is presented, including the specific connection circuit diagram and thePCB. The Vehicle terminal system has been implemented using MSP430F149,GPS, GPRS and other components.At present, the vehicle terminal equipment has been tested in laboratory,and it implements many functions such as real time information (longitude,latitude, speed, direction, the up and down passengers number in each station)acquisition and transmission, automatic voice broadcast, vehicle fault alarming,passenger statistics etc. The equipment can meet the monitor and dispatchingcenter's requirements.Because the physical environment is different from the laboratory greatly, there are many problems to be considered, such as vibration, electromagneticcompatibility, power supply stability and so on before the device is used inpractice.
