Miscanthus, a collective name of tall grasses of the same species, is widely distributed in both north and south China. Miscanthus is recognized as one of the most promising energy plants, including many advantages, such as high biomass, high adaptability, and good quality and so on. Miscanthus is studied by the following aspects in this paper:collecting the Miscanthus germplasm resources, comparing its morphology and agronomic traits, using ISSR to study different collection sites on the genetic relationship of 105 Miscanthus materials. The results are as follows:1,There're many differences morphological characteristics between the Miscanthus that come from different sources. Two years later, their morphology becomes convergent through unified panting, thereinto, comparing to other numbers No.436, No.445, No.452, No.fj, No.1150-No.1153 have more morphological differences, but the morphological characteristics of No.436, No.445, No.452 are similar, and the morphological characteristics of No.1150-No.1153 are similar too. No.436, No.445, No.452 and No.fj have relatively larger biomass, which shows many wild germplasm resources in nature that phenotype is excellent exist.2,5 primers with good polymorphic are screened from the 42 ISSR.105 Miscanthus material samples were amplified by using these primers. A total of 156 belts are amplified, and they are located between 0.2-2 kb, including 156 differences belts that account for 100% in hold belts, different primers have different numbers of belts at 26-35 after amplifing, each primer produces 31.2 belts on average. Genetic similarity ranges from 0.5641 to 0.9423 with the average of 0.727. It shows the Miscanthus that from different areas has high genetic differentiation. Through genetic relationship dendrogram and other coefficient table. It can be seen that the clustering results of the Miscanthus from different sources with the clustering results of sources and morphological observations are quite different. It should increasingly use the wild resources in the process of cultivation and breeding germplasm.3,Three Miscanthus materials'chromosome were studied by karyotype analysis and the result showed that all three materials'chromosome number is 2n=38, M.sacchariflorus and M.sinensis chromosomes have some differences, which were not significant. From the perspective of cytology that the M.sacchariflorus can be classified as Miscnathus; the karyotype of M.sinensis is more original than karyotype of M.sacchariflorus.
