Bamboo forests growing larger and larger steadily while the gross area of forest in the world decreasing sharply, which shows a brightening prospect of bamboo industry.But once bamboo is cut down, its root takes 8 or 10 years to rot.The stone-like remains of bamboo roots stop penetration and growing of bamboo rhizome, meanwhile wastes the land nearby, thus influence other plants. In order to use forest land effectively, should be cleaned up promptly. Existing cleaning methods which may not appropriate are analyzed in this paper, such as higher labor intensity,less effective or lead to contamination and so on, putting forward on studying a cleaning machine specialized in bamboo cutting roots with lighter weight, smaller size, easier to move, higher efficiency as well as operate in complex terrain and dense bamboo forestry.In the beginning, we summed up the status of China's bamboo industries in last few years and all efforts people have made. We found no mature theory of how to get rid of remains of bamboo root after looking up various scientific or technical literatures.By learning about its production cycle, features and physical structures, we found several solutions.We concluded as below:(1)Separable grapple is designed,which contains ring claws,connecting bars,pins and so on,when assembling,fix left (right) ring claw which welded pins firstly,then install the other ring pin hole to the claw.Besides,optimal design of symmetrical ring with 5 serrated claws (blade) grapple make a better pulling force.(2)Based on light power pulling machine,we design the hoist power pulling machine,which can avoid gear slipping,so that increase traction,its pulling test shows that the average depth of grapple pierces into root is 11 mm to 15mm,pulling force is between 2.8t and 3.9t,completion time is 9min to 13min,all of those proved that the hoist one has high efficiency.(3)After several tests we found that the basic design of the prototype basically meet the design requirements and equipment design and testing need to be further strengthened.
