The oriental fruit moth (OFM), Grapholita molesta Busck (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), a major pest of fruit production in north of China. In recent years, because of the climatic factors and the management of orchard and the limitations of traditional control means, the problems associated with this pest have been on the rise in many areas in China. Laboratory studies were examine the phototaxis on five different LED light of red, yellow, green, blue and white for selected the most sensitive spectral light of OFM. And the effect of green light on the biological characteristic of OFM was studies too. The main results are as follows.1. The rate of phototaxis on five different LED light of green, yellow, red, blue, white of OFM were 41.67%, 32.33%, 26.00%, 24.67% and 20.33%, respectively. The rate of phototaxis on the green light was significant higher than others. So, the most sensitive spectral light of OFM was green.2. Research about the influence of different ages and sexual differences of OFM phototaxis indicated that, for green light, the preference of 3 days adult was the most significant, and the rate of phototaxis was 60.00%, which significant higher than the other four ages. There were remarkable differences on phototaxis between different sex that the phototaxis rate of female was 63.34%, significant higher than that of male which was 36.33%.3. Research about the influence of various dark- adapted time, different light intensity on phototaxis of OFM indicated that, the rate trend of phototaxis was parabolic within 0.5h-3.0h of dark-adapted time were setted. When the dark adaptation duration was 2.0h, the phototaxis rate was the highest and the preference for the green light was the strongest which was significantly different with the other duration. When the time set longer than 2.0h, the phototaxis rate was decreased. At different light intensity set as 550Lux, 650Lux, 750Lux and 850Lux, the phototaxis rates were also different. When the light intensity was 650Lux, the phototaxis was the strongest and the phototaxis rate was 42.67%, obviously higher than the other treatments.4. Changing the dark treatment in light-dark cycle of development of OFM to the green light (650Lux), the biological characteristics of OFM were changed. Oviposition period prolonged 1.37 days, fecundity per female was decreased 35.40. And the hatchability was decreased for 20%, which was obviously different with CK. However, there was no obvious change about the egg stage. The longevity of female which used in the experiments was decreased significantly for 3.27 days comparing with CK while that of male was not change obviously.
