Research On The Economic Value Of Local Characteristic Crop Genmplasm Resources

Local characteristic crop germplasm resource was one of crop germplasm resources, an important part of the nature biological diversity, a necessary material basis of mankind in survival,reproduction and development, and an important guarantee for sustainable development of agriculture.This paper analyzed the economic value of local characteristic crops germplasm resources, researched the classification and assessment methods, and studied the economic value of local characteristic crops germplasm resources.Based on the characteristic and functionality of crop germplasm resources, draw from the economic value of natural resources and biodiversity research, the economic value of local characteristic crop germplasm resources were divided into four parts:the direct value, the indirect value, the development value and conservation value, then this paper analyzed the implementation process on the economic value of local crop germplasm resources.This paper established the assessment model for the economic value of local crop germplasm resources.Take Luyuan waxy corn as an example of the important local crop variety from Zhangjiagang,Jiangsu Province, based on the characteristic of maize germplasm resources and the different value estimation, used the market value method to calculate the direct value of species, used the market value method and opportunity cost method to calculate the indirect value of species, as well as research and development its value, used the market value method, shadow project method, opportunity cost method, production cost method, contingent valuation method to calculate the conservation value. The results showed that Luyuan waxy maize germplasm from Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, had a very high economic value. This paper selected Luyuan waxy corn germplasm and analyzed its economic value; it is an attempt to study the economic value of local crop germplasm resources.Through assessing different values of the crop germplasm resources to be provided with local Luyuan waxy corn, in the hope that this could provide reference for other germplasm resources in economic value assessment methods and models, provided some reference value for the studies of other natural resources, supplied a theoretical basis for rational utilization and protection of germplasm resources, to achieve the sustainable development of environment and resources.This paper consists of five chapters, discussed and studied to each chapter in accordance with the following ideas. The first chapter was the introduction to explain theoretical and practical significance, summarized the relevant research, and introduced the ideas and research methods, concluded with the main points and innovations point. ChapterⅡwas the connotation and assessment methods of the economic value to be provided with crop germplasm resources. First pairs analyzed the characteristic of the economic value, and then to class with the economic value of crop germplasm, elaborated the assessment methods of the economic value in different circumstances, and to choose different assessments methods to the different characteristic of crop germplasm resources.Chapter III was case study that based on the theory of several chapters, appraised on the economic value of Luyuan waxy corn which is distinctive crop germplasm resources from Zhangjiagang City. The analysis and interpretation of the case study will be in Chapter IV. Chapter V presented conclusions, which was the main conclusion of this study.
