02 gene to increase the corn grain protein content of lysine, a quality protein maize. Micro-endosperm maize is a new high-oil corn, into o2 gene to observe their characters of Micro-endosperm maize.By the method IV of Griffing, which six inbred lines of two micro-endosperm and four o2 micro-endosperm maize, fifteen combinations were made to study the combining ability and heritability of main characters.The results are as follows:(1) Performance traitsLong growing-period was found in most hybrid combination. In the combination of the average, no obvious difference was found between three groups. In single parent or parents which were o2 micro-endosperm maize of hybrid combination, increasing trend was found on plant height and ear height.But,the reducing trend was found on leaf area.Thus leading o2 to improve the three characers had an adverse effect.The reducing trend was found on kernel percent oil during miling period,thus leading o2 to improve kernel percent oil during miling period had an adverce effect. However, increasing trend was found on kernel soluble suger during miling period.So leading o2 may be an effective method.(2) The analysis of the combining abilityExcept days to emergence,days to silk.sterm diameter.and kernel soluble suger during miling period,Gca variances and Sea variances of other seven characters were at significant levels.And as Gca effect values of parents and Sea effect values of hybrid combination were both high, observing values of these character should be relatively big. But compared with the observing values, a few character did not conform to this law, while the total combining ability (Tea) analysis of the effect of values and observing values did.Observing values and combining ability analysis derive that leading o2 to micro-endosperm maize can not improve kernel percent oil during miling period,but even reduce it.But it can improve kernel soluble Suger during miling period.(3) The analysis of the heritabilityExcept days to emergence and days to silk, other nine characters were less changed by the influence of the changing environment. Ear height, plant height, number of leaves, area of leaves, stem dianeter, days to tassel, days to pollen, kernel percent oil during miling period, kernel soluble suger during miling period and etc,these characters were influenced by genetic effects. In these four characters, which are days to tassel, plant height, ear height and number of leaves,the h2n is high.Therefore,the four characters can be selected in the early generation.Considering relatively low heritability, other characters can be selected in later generations.
