There are distinguishing characteristics of medicinal plant, such as property of a medicine and medicinal location. Along with such information as the place of production and growth environment of medicinal plant, its amount of information is really huge.Based on software engineering methods, this thesis does the work of design, R & D for resource management of medicinal plant. The system architecture based on B/S mode is proposed, and the key point here is how to optimize combinatorial information of medicinal plant to design system database. Taking advantage of the information processing ability of computers, investigation and research results of medicinal plant resources are arranged systematically, so as to query conveniently those basic information such as classified names, shape characteristics, condition of growth environment and pictures of medicinal plant, as well as those medicinal economical information such as collection and production, medicinal location, active principle, function and usage of medicinal plant. Moreover, rosource sharing of medicinal plant information is realized through Internet technology. The overall train of thought for system development is powerful and user friendly of the system.The main researches of the system are summed up as follows:Firstly, to deal with the problem of huge amount of medicinal plant information and query, several query ways such as picture query, location query and content query are designed in this system, so that users of this system can browse medicinal plant information conveniently.Secondly, to deal with the problem of not all outdoors workers are familiar with all kinds of medicinal plants, pictures of medicinal plant taken outdoors can be uploaded through the system, so that they can be authenticated by those who are familiar with this plant, and that they can be authenticated through querying Chinese Plants or medicinal plant picture base in this system.Thirdly, to deal with the copyright problem of medicinal plant pictures, several kinds of digital watermark are designed in this system for system administrators to choose.Fourthly, because there are many kinds of medicinal plant, there will be more and more pictures from individual picture base in the system, so that compression function is added to the system to decrease the space usage of pictures.Fifthly, because there will be many kinds of users of this medicinal plant information system, such as researchers, medicinal plant teachers, traditional Chinese medicine producers, as well as those who are interested in the function and usage of medicinal plant, this system adopts B/S mode for users to use it anywhere anytime.Sixthly, because there are bad as well as good medicinal plant information resources on the web, after developed the system, I spent half a year to arrange and record most of the medicinal plant information of Sanming China.Seventhly, whenever the name of medicinal plant is known, its information can be filled intelligently. This function is also realized in this system.
