Microalgae as the second generation of bio-energy, has drawn people's high attention in recent years. With the features:fast growth of breeding, high output per unit, rich in nutrition and chemical raw materials, microalgae has been widely applied in many important fields, and is expected to be used to solve the problem of environment pollution and energy shortage. However, the extensive breeding system has seriously limited the application of microalgae. Developing efficient farming system has become the key to improve microalgae production efficiency and reduce production costs. In this paper, we designed a new environment controlled system for microalgae breeding, combined with the sensor technology, embedded computing technology, modern communication technology, software engineering technology, based on the primitive photobioreactors. The main works of this paper are as follows:1. According to the research achievements of scholars at home and abroad, we analyzed the mainly environmental impact factors of microalgae's growth. Then we designed a monitoring and control system in order to detect and control the environmental pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, CO2 supply and light. The entire system is composed of the detection system, control system and peripheral system. And we modify the overall structure of photobioreactor, which is mainly including the addition of testing equipment, control system optimization, and the rational distribution of the control equipment.2. Designed the hardware of microalgae aquaculture environmental monitoring and control system. Include: the signal acquisition and amplification circuit design of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and salinity sensors; the control circuit design of environmental control equipment(pumps, fluorescent lamps and heating devices); and the main control circuit design of peripherals(LCD, keyboard and memory chips, etc.) which are used for display and storage of data.3. Built the embedded operating system. The software used for LCD, keyboard control, data storage and signal acquisition was developed.4. With using object-oriented language C++, developed a PC-based computer management software, which accomplishs serial communication with the lower computer. The software can be used for monitoring the environmental parameters of microalgae's growth in real-time via a graphical and numerical display, and saving the upload data with database. The software also has functions of historical records query, manual record add, delete, and export TXT format documents etc. What's more, the USB communication was studied in this paper.
