The pathogen of bacterial blight is Anthurium andraeanum was Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. dieffenbachia. Once introduced into a new growing area, bacterial blight may result a great loss of plants. And there are no drugs to cure. So it is necessary to evaluation on the resistance of bacterial blight and physiological biochemical characters. The pathogenic bacteria were collected and identified from the potted anthurium 'Arizona'and'Dakota'which were open-air cultivation in Hainan. Inoculated the pathogens in23different cultivars of Anthurium andraeanum leaves, and after inoculation in different Anthurium cultivars for resistance evaluation and analysis of physiological and the determination of enzyme activity, the results are as follows.1. Identification of the pathogens shows that12Anthurium bacterial blight pathogens are Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. dieffenbachiae. The pathogenicity test results show no obvious difference between strains of pathogenic bacteria.2.23Anthurium varieties were chosed to be inoculated with the pathogen on leaves. The result showed that the materials were different in resistant level obviously. And2accessions,'Pink Champion'and'Manaka',were highly-resistant to Anthuirium bacterial blight;7accessions were medium-resistant to Anthurium bacterial blight, which were'Stallis','Vitara','Altimo','Dakota','Red Champion','White Champion'and'New Pink Champion';9accessions were medium-susceptible to Anthurium bacterial blight, which were'Sweet dream','Arab','Cheers','Simpra','Alabama','Impreza','Acropolis','Arizona'and'Cherry';5accessions were highly-susceptible to Anthurium bacterial blight, which were'Sharade','Tropical','Sierra','Choco'and'Fiesta'.3. The changes of cell defense-related enzyme activities of Anthurium varieties with different resistance before and after the bacteria inoculating. The results show that, the plants enzyme activeity of APX, POD, PAL,SOD, CAT changes follows certain patterns. The results show that, the enzyme activity of APX, POD, PAL, SOD and CAT in plants changed following a certain patterns. All5enzyme activity increased and then decreased after pathogen inoculation and the resistant varieties had a higher activeities and increase rate than susceptible varieties, which indicated that the activity of these enzymes was correlated with blight resistance. What different was that the activity of PPO after inoculation was always higher than CK,though the trend in the resistant and susceptible varieties was not very obvious. In this paper, research of resistance and it's mechanism to bacterial blight of different varieties of Anthurium andraeanum would provide the production guidance to scale operation.
