Objective To explore the expression of miRNA-502-3p in the human renal cell carcinoma, and prepare for the further study in miRNA-502-3p.Methods 40 cases of surgical specimens of kidney cancer, including cancer and normal adjacent tissue were collected from Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, and cooperation hospitals from different cities from January 2008 to January 2010, patients aged 6 months ~ 76 years old, with the average age of 44 years old. There were 22 male patients and 18 females. Then the total RNA of renal carcinoma and paratumor tissue was extracted from patients. The expression of miRNA-502-3p was explored using reversed transcription and real-time PCR. The results were analyzed by statistics with P value smaller than 0.05.Results Carcinoma tissue showed lower expression of miRNA-502-3p than paratumor tissue. Compared with paratumor tissue, miRNA-502-3p had lower expression in 30 cases of carcinoma tissue out of 40 specimens, while there was higher expression of miRNA-502-3p in the rest 10 cases. There was no statistical significance in sex, age, TNM stages and pathological types. Conclusion There was statistical significance for low expression of miRNA-502-3p in renal car-cinoma. This indicates that the down-regulated expression of miRNA-502-3p might have associa-tion with the origination and development of renal carcinoma and could serve as a new and promis-ing target for the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of renal carcinoma.
