Purpose:To study the relationship between lipid metabolism and adrenomedulin in deficiency of spleen-kidney and profuse of sputum phlegm syndrome of Senile Metabolische Syndrom(MS), explore pathogenesis of Senile MS further and provide evidences for objective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic and the theoretical basis of Integrative Medicine. Methods:According to Western diagnostic standards and TCM syndrome differentiation for outpatient and wards patients with senile metabolic syndrome, select two high incidence rate groups of profuse of sputum phlegm and deficiency of spleen and kidney. All of the patients were treated in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from October 2009 to October 2010, their age ranges from 60 to 90, Their informations about general state of health, symptoms and signs TCM, western medicine objective examination data and past medical history information were collected. These patients were hemospasiaed 2ml of the vein as serum samples. With enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the items including adrenomedullin (AM), free fatty acid (FFA), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting serum insulin (FINs), insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) were being detected in serum samples. Finally, all statistical datas of the two clinical groups were compared and analyzed.Results:1.There was no difference of gender distribution, height, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, fasting glucose, uric acid, creatinine between the two groups (P>0.05).2.Body mass index (BMI), waist to hip ratio (WHR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), triglycerides (TG), serum free fatty acid (FFA), insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) of the profuse of sputum phlegm group were higher than the deficiency of spleen and kidney group; high density lipoprotein (HDL-c), serum adrenomedullin (AM) of the profuse of sputum phlegm group were lower than spleen and kidney deficiency group.3.The serum levels of adrenomedullin expression was negatively correlated with BMI, WHR, ABP, HOMA-IR, TG, FFA, and positively correlated with HDL-c in the Senile Metabolic Syndrome.Conclusion:1.Lipid metabolism disorder is closely related to sputum phlegm in patients of senile metabolic syndrome.2.One of the reasons for lipid metabolism disorder in profuse of sputum phlegm type of senile metabolic syndrome is that adrenomedullin may participate in the process of lipid metabolism.
