Objective:To discuss the understanding of traditional Chinese medicine about metabolic syndrome by using prescription of replenishing Qi and nourishing Yin,resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis. To observe the therapeutic efficacy of this method in treating the syndrome of deficiency of Qi and Yin,mutual blockage of phlegm and blood stasis of metabolic syndrome and to investigate the mechanism of this method. Methods:With a randomized and controlled study method,58patients with the syndrome of deficiency of Qi and Yin,mutual blockage of phlegm and blood stasis of metabolic syndrome were randomly classified into two groups. Besides the intervention of living behavior and western medicine, the patients of the treatment group (n=31) were treated by Chinese medicine while the patients of control group (n=27) were not. Three months was a course of treatment. The observed indexes included obesity-related indicators (BMI, WHR), blood glucose (FBG, PBG), HbAlc, lipid (TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C), blood pressure (SBP, DBP), fasting insulin, insulin resistance index (IRI), symptom scores, as well as safety indicators. All data were analyzed by the SPSS17.0statistics software. Results:Before treatment, the gender, age, course of disease of the two groups had no differences(P>0.05).①improvement of syndromes:the syndromes of treatment group patients were significantly improved, the total effective rate was93.55%, the score of TCM symptom were decreased from17.13±2.77to7.77±2.90;while the total effective rate of control group was62.96%, the score of TCM symptom were decreased from16.22±2.27to10.81±3.41. In improving the clinical symptoms of metabolic syndrome, the treatment group was superior to the control group (P<0.01).②obesity-related indicators:The weight, WHR of the two groups were both decreased, compared with pre-treatment there is statistically significant (P<0.01). And the treatment group had an advantage over the control group(P<0.05).③antihypertensive effect:After treatment, systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the two groups were decreased, but there was no significant difference (P>0.05), and no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).④hypoglycemic effect:The FBG, PBG,HbA1C of the two groups were decreased, compared with pre-treatment there is statistically significant (P<0.01). Compared with the two groups, the treatment group has a remarkable advantage in FBG(P<0.01), and a statistically significant in PBG,HbA1C(P<0.05).⑤lipid-lowering effect:The TG, TC, LDL-C of the treatment group were decreased, the HDL-C of them were elevated, compared with pre-treatment there is a remarkable statistically significant(P<0.01); Compared with the two groups, the treatment group has a remarkable advantage in TC. TG. HDL-C (P<0.01), and a statistically significant in LDL-C (P<0.05).⑥insulin-related indicators:After treatment, fasting insulin,HOMA-IR of the two groups were decreased, compared with pre-treatment there is statistically significant (P<0.01). But compared with the two groups, there is no significant difference(P>0.05).⑦security indicators:liver and kidney function tests were within normal range. Both groups were no serious adverse reactions. Conclusion:From the initial clinical studies, Tangzhiqing recipe with metformin can not only improve the clinical symptoms, but also can reduce weight, blood glucose, lipid, blood, insulin resistance,. It is safe and effective has a broad prospect of application. It is worth studying deeply and developing further.
