Objective:The investigation is to study the loss of heterozygosity on chromosomal arms 1p and 19p in oligodendroglial tumors and identify the Oligodendroglioma. The result can associate with response to radio and chemotherapy in Oligodendroglioma.Methods:Chose the case and make the paraffin section:chose 90 case from the neurosurgery of the first affiliated hospital of Nanchang university in 2003-2009, concluding 35 olig-odendrogliomas,16 anaplastic oligodendrogliomas,6 mixed oligoastrocy- tomas and 31 astrocytomas according to diagnostic criteria of WHO in 2008. Detected with fluorescence in site hybridization(FISH):using FISH to detect the loss of heterozygosity on chromosomal arms 1p and 19p and divide into three subgroups conclude the loss of heterozygosity on chromosomal arms 1p,the loss of heterozygosity on chromosomal arms 19q and the combined loss of heterozygosity on chromosomal arms 1p and 19q.Results:1.LOH on 1p was detected in 38 (64.4%) of 59 glioma which include oligodendroglial cell, LOH on 19q was detected in 39 (66.1%) of 59 and combined LOH on 1p and 19q was detected in 33 (55.9%) of 59. LOH on 1p was detected in 12 (38.7%) of 31 astrocytomas, LOH on 19q was detected in 9 (29.0%) of 15 and combined LOH on 1p and 19q was detected in 5 (16.1%) of 31.LOH on lp/19q in the two groups is significant distinct. (P<0.01)2.LOH on 1p was detected in 23 (65.7%), on 19q was detected in 22 (62.9%) and on 1p/19q was detected in 19 (54.3%) of 35 oligodendrogliomas. The rate of the LOH on 1p and 19q is positive correlation. The correlation coefficient is 0.566, P<0.01.3.LOH on 1p was detected in 9 (56.2%), on 19q was detected in 10 (62.5%) and on lp/19q was detected in 8 (50.0%) of 16 anaplastic oligodendrogliomas. The rate of the LOH on 1p and 19q is positive correlation. The correlation coefficient is.618, P<0.05.4.LOH on 1p was detected in 6 (75.0%), on 19q was detected in 7 (87.5%) and on lp/19q was detected in 6 (75.0%) of 8 mixed oligoastrocytomas. There is no correlation between the LOH of 1p and 19q, P>0.05.5.There is no correlation between oligodendrogliomas and anaplastic oligo-dendrogliomas of the LOH on lp/19q,P>0.05.Conclusion:1.the rate of LOH on lp/19q in glioma which include oligodendroglial cell is more high than astrocytomas, LOH on lp/19q can be used to identify the glioma which include oligodendroglial cell and astrocytomas.2.there is correlation between LOH on lp/19q and glioma which include oligodend-roglial cell.3.there is no correlation between the LOH on lp/19q and the grade of oligoden-drogliomas.4.it is very effective for the LOH on lp/19q to diagnose and treat the oligod-endrogliomas in clinic.
